Samsung announces VR partnership with Major League Baseball
Samsung Canada has announced that it will be partnering with Major League Baseball (MLB) to provide VR experiences for fans.
The two companies will provide immersive access to players, ballparks and key moments that take place during the rest of the 2017 season.
There will be a series of over 20 videos that will be available for viewing on the Samsung VR app.
The videos will focus on the Toronto Blue Jays and their centre fielder Kevin Pillar, who will be the subject of the exclusive behind-the-scenes content.
“Through our partnership with MLB, we’re taking sports entertainment to the next level with new VR experiences that get fans closer to the game and right into the action,” said Mark Childs, CMO at Samsung Canada.
‘Immerse fans into the action’
The VR content will include interactivity around player stats, fun facts and videos to increase the immersive nature of the Samsung Gear 360 camera-filmed experiences.
Users can access the content on the Samsung VR app on the Samsung Gear headset or on their Galaxy phone.
In a press release Samsung Canada stated:
“The MLB VR series within the Samsung VR app will immerse fans into the action with select content experiences, bringing them face to face with some of their favourite players and offering unrivalled views of iconic ballparks. What's more, fans will be plunged right into the season's most exciting moments, which include All-Star events and the American League and National League Championship Series – all leading up to the World Series itself.”
